Creekside Massage & Yoga officially opened her doors on November 1st 2016; however her story does not start there.
We was located on Congress Parkway in an old warehouse. I designed the layout giving us a total of 5 massage rooms and a large area for group yoga classes.
During the months leading up to opening day, My son Christian, Ashley D. & I spent our days painting and building furniture for the rooms with the help from lots of family.
We spent just over 2 beautiful years here; growing as a business and as people.
I was blessed to have Christian run the business for me weekdays after school; he made sure evening yoga got started as planned and all the house keeping was done for the day.
During that time, we had several yoga teachers and even belly dancing classes. We hosted multiple workshops, trainings and retreats.
In the fall of 2018 the time had come to make a move. Creekside downsized to only Ashley D & I; the business and began practicing out of my home in the enchanted forest.
I was going through some big life changes, my health was declining rapidly, it was the end of several significant relationships and I had a new grand baby on the way. This move gave me the time to recover, heal and to celebrate.
At this location we offered massage and yoga sessions. I began my life as a travel massage therapist and offering yoga classes in several locations including Silver Springs Vineyard. I still miss the nights of Wine & Yoga!
This is the time frame I began hosting Warrior Goddess Training Book Club and the gathering of women for healing circle.
One year later in the fall of 2019, Ashley D. decided to step away from Creekside's day-to-day tasks to follow a different journey.
As Ashley took off on her path I had some decisions to make about my future and the future of Creekside.
In the end, I had decided to close the business; I could not see me continuing solo.
However, the universe had other plans!
I was told about the perfect little space for rent Downtown Athens. I quickly called up a friend and asked her to meet me there for a quick peak around.
I met with the rental agent the next day to sign a lease.
Creekside made its way downtown to the old bus station; rich with so much history. I later learned, my Mother had worked in the Bus Stations Cafe and lived above it and this is when she and my dad began their relationship which led to marriage and eventually ME!
November 1st 2019 Creekside opened her doors for the first time downtown.
And for the first time, I was practicing solo for several months; it was a blessing to have Skye & Jasper available to run the shop while I was in sessions.
Again blessed to be able to work with one of my kids, Skye helped me for months until she found her home with Kiddie Korner.
As Skye went off to form her career, Creekside began to grow.
Offering yoga classes with several different teachers, belly dancing and other workshops & trainings.
Ronna and Amber joined and made the Creekside massage team; until spring of 2020 when the world shutdown.
And by order of the governor all massage & yoga studios was closed until further notice. ( As well as other service industries)
After a few months of financially supporting a closed business all of my savings was wiped out. I again made the tough call to permanently close the business...
The universe had other plans.
Two weeks after selling off most of my equipment and moving the rest out of the rental place back to my home, we was given permission to reopen.
I quickly reached out to my former rental agency and was given the go ahead to move back into the old bus station.
Starting over with half the equipment and Creekside was a solo practice again.
Amber rejoined shortly after reopening.
Slowly I began restructuring Creekside - as the world has changed - I have changed.
I realized this is what I am supposed to be doing. This is MY journey, MY purpose.
I made the decision to sell my home and a secure home for Creekside & I to grow in ...
November 1st 2020 Creekside opened her doors at her new home, the enchanted tower.
6 E Washington Ave * Downtown Athens
Ronna was ready to come back in early 2021.
Mid 2022 Ronna & I was the Creekside team. And my mother fell very ill and we began the journey of walking her home. She transitioned Oct 22 2022
During this year Ronna & I doing the best we could -we survived the year.
Beginning 2023 I was calling in my new team; knowing Creekside needed more support than I could give.
Catie heard my call and answered.
What started as a part-time gig to help with the shop & website; lead to Catie going to massage school.
With Catie's help Creekside was rebranded from Creekside Massage & Yoga - to Creekside Wellness and we have separated the shop from the wellness center and created Healing Hippies Metaphysical Shop; which was reveled on November 1st 2023
She will be joining the Creekside massage team early 2024.
This is not the end .....
